In the Beginning..

Harvey’s Butter Rum Batter has been providing a delicious holiday tradition to Northwest residents for over 50 years.  Founded by Harvey Hudson, he first created his special recipe in 1952 while tending bar at a local lounge.  It was such a hit with his customers they began asking for the batter to take home to make their own drinks.  Harvey’s recipe became so popular in the local area, that in 1960, being the entrepreneur that he was, he contracted with a local dairy and started producing the batter in larger batches “after hours” using their equipment.  He used their cottage cheese hopper to fill the tubs.  The dairy distributed the tubs until 1972 when Harvey decided to devote himself to his growing business full time.  He opened his first plant in Bremerton, Washington where it still remains today.  Harvey was passionate about his business and his customers working until 2011, when he passed at the age of 94.

Balancing tradition and innovation…

Tradition plays a role in the making of Harvey’s.  Each batch of batter is hand-crafted using premium ingredients to give it the unforgettable flavor and creamy goodness that our fans have come to know and love.  We enjoy hearing how you like to use Harvey’s for not only hot beverages, but for making baked goods and other family recipes.  It’s also fun to hear stories of how someone remembers the famous gold & black tub with the friendly rabbit on it in the refrigerator when they were growing up.  Our goal is to balance the tradition of Harvey’s with the innovation necessary to create new additions to the line, and a few technological advances to keep things running smoothly and get the product to you. As the new owners of Harvey’s, we look forward to carrying on the passion and deliciousness that Harvey Hudson started many years ago.

Enjoy,

Stacy & Scott
